PS is a French (meteric) horse power, defined as
1 PS = 735.5 W (watt).
On the other hand, British horse power (HP) is about 746 W.
(1PS = 0.9859HP.)
Original definition was:
1PS = 75 kgw*m/s, 1HP = 550 lbw*ft/s.
