- 1999/Dec/10: updated links to game-online.com, dailyradar.com, psx.ign.com,
IGN For Men, Game Informer, videogames.com, Console Domain, and GameFan.
- 1999/Dec/8: skunkwerx provides GT2 commercial [in AVI Indeo Video 5 codec].
- 1999/Dec/4: SCEI updated GT2 Information page.
- 1999/Nov/27: SCEA says
GT2 release date is Nov 30. (Dec 5 update: the page is not available now.)
- 1999/Nov/25: game-online reports
about "99% complete" GT2.
- 1999/Nov/12: PSX.IGN.COM reports that
U.S.A. release is still due on December 7.
- 1999/Nov/11: SCEI's GT2 information page
now has updated release date of "December 11."
- 1999/Nov/10: According to Geisen and
G-TIME [in Japanese],
SCEI announced that the release in Japan is postponed to December 11, 1999.
GT2 information page has updated release date
of "December".
- 1999/Nov/6: Added links to game-online.com. Updated link to psx.ign.com.
- 1999/Nov/3: Game shops have promotion materials now, including
car list.
Compared to car list distributed at Tokyo Motor Show:
- Latest models of Subaru Impreza, as well as Toyota MR-S,
Volkswagen Golf IV V6 are in.
- Jaguar XK180, Volkswagen New Beetle 1.9, Golf IV TDI, Polo G40 are out.
- Toyota XYR is replaced with Celica SS-II '99.
- 1999/Nov/2: Updated links to Game Informer.
- 1999/Oct/26: I went out to Tokyo Motor Show and obtained
official (provisional) car list for GT2.
Compared to the list at FORMEN.IGN.COM,
there are some differences (besides obvious name changes such
as Honda/Acura, Eunos/Mazda). I don't know whether it is
real change, or somebody at IGN.COM botched by mistake when typing in.
Some of the major differences are:
- Lancia Stratos is in.
- Chrysler Phaeton is out.
- Toyota XYR Detroit Motorshow Model is in.
- A few more models of Honda Civic Type-R are in.
- Nissan Skyline RS-X TURBO C (DR30) '84 is in.
Also note there are only 438 grades of cars, when Sony's advertisement
says "more than 500 models, 600 grades." I suppose 600 number includes
special models that are not included in this list --- but then,
it means 160 more special models have to exist... Is it possible?
- 1999/Oct/23: SCEI is
exhibiting GT2 [in Japanese]
at Tokyo Motor Show.
- 1999/Oct/20: SCEI has TV commercial of GT2.
[in Japanese, requires RealPlayer G2]
